It seems every year that when the temperature goes down, our excitement soars! We could not wait to carry out investigations among our preschool winter wonderland and take away new knowledge. From fashion forward choices to real snow exposure, we had a super chill month!
First things first, in order to prepare for winter we have to dress the part! Our story "Froggy Gets Dressed" had us role playing, sequencing, and laughing our mittens off with a very silly plot twist involving underpants. We were sew into this clothing unit that we were inspired to design some of our own pieces, limited preschool edition!
We couldn't carry out the month of December without the coziest attire of all - Pajamas! Take a look at our round-the-clock fun in our number 1 outfit choices! We even brought in some cuddly stuffies from home to introduce into our preschool routine. They day was spent crafting, sipping, reading, and bouncing around in our parachute!
It seemed like the snow took forever to make it's debut at Ladybug Preschool. In hopes of bringing on the cold, we engaged in a snow unit! We constructed and deconstructed snowman with shapes, counted snowflakes, pieced together snow puzzles, uncovered some frozen mystery objects, and had the time of our lives getting "snow" messy during sensory writing. The best part? All done within the warmth of our classroom!
Our Winter Wonderland wouldn't be complete without a Winter Village replica! Our magical ice skating rink and hot chocolate pop-up warmed our hearts right away! The ladybugs rose to the occasion when it came to running the ticket booth, refreshment stand, and of course ice skating the day away. Watch out Bryant Park, you have some big competition.
We also spent some time taking into account what these special holidays mean actually mean to us aside from desired presents and sweet treats. We wanted to show our appreciation for our families and close friends by showcasing our talents in our winter celebration! We also experienced the warm reward of generous gift giving by making one of a kind creations for our loved ones. We even practiced kindness towards animals by making them yummy bird feeders during the winter months! Thank you for attending our celebration and giving me with greatest gift of all, the opportunity to teach your amazing child.
Peace, love, and happiness to everyone in the upcoming 2018 year. I can't wait to see what new adventures it brings!
All my best,
