Welcome back goblins, ghouls, witches, and warlocks! We had a festive and fantastic time embracing all that is fall! We took the month to engage in some seedy studies and exercise our scientific curiosity. Each week we brought a new fall focus! Check out some pictures below to find the methods to our madness!
We made some un-be-leaf-able conclusions about leaves which reinforced colors, shapes, and textures. We were encouraged to find otherwise hidden veins and spines under the illumination of our light table, explore negative space using paint, work with leaf shading, and delve into sensory exploration with our fall themed bin. The leaf works of art blew me away!
Apples are anything but ordinary. They hold so much educational value between measurements, taste, buoyancy, and more! Our apple study proved to be so sweet. We conquered apple name puzzles, had some balance inspiration from Dr. Seuss' "Ten Apples Up On Top", indulged in a colorful taste test, and even used apples as the medium in our artwork! Sample some of our findings below!
One of the biggest highlights of fall is finding that precious and perfectly plump pumpkin. We ventured out to pick our own and formed a fruitful bond for the rest of the week! The "pumpkin patch" was a great way to kick off our pumpkin study and pique our interest in this festive staple! Throughout the week we thoroughly examined our pumpkins by actively investigating their height, circumference, color, and attributes. Like all scientists, we recorded our findings in our special pumpkin journals.
We ended our month on a spooky note all the while being haunted by the infamous Spooky Ladybug. She may have tricked, but we still got the treats in the end. Our Halloween celebration was one for the books, even inspiring us to write our own Halloween tale!
Sad to see October go, but we are thankful November is here. This month we will be spending time down on the farm in preparation for the Thanksgiving Harvest. We can't wait!
